The Pied Wagtail, sometimes known as White Wagtail, is the most common of the 4 wagtails found in the UK.  Black, white and grey in colour the Pied Wagtail can be found in a variety of habitats and there are currently 290,000 pairs resident in the UK.  I have seen this bird at many reserves and on the roof of our house wagging its tail, hence the name.
