GREENFINCH

Slightly larger than the Goldfinch is the Greenfinch, which is apple green in colour with hints of grey and yellow streaks on the wing.  The female is less green and the juvenile Greenfinch has faded streaks on its breast.  This bird is a regular visitor to gardens, whilst it can also be found in parks, woods, farmland, open spaces and heathland scrub.  There are currently an estimated 695,000 pairs breeding in the UK.

Weight: 12-18g (½-¾oz)

Average Life: 2-3 years
