GREAT TIT

The Great Tit is one of the most common garden birds.  It has a yellow breast with a black stripe vertically down the middle, a green back and dark blue wings and tail.  The head is black with a half black, half white face.  It can be seen feeding on the ground as well as in trees, bushes and woodland and gardens.  There are currently 2 million pairs across the UK, however the nests can be raided by Woodpeckers, Squirrels, Weasels & Jays.  It doesn't get any better as an adult as they are then a prime target for Sparrowhawks.
