GREY PARTRIDGE

The Grey Partridge is increasingly scarce in the UK as the numbers are in a steady decline and there are now less than 170,000 breeding pairs left in the UK.  The Grey Partridge as the name suggests is mainly grey in colour with brownish orange stripes on its wings and face.  It also has a dark brown patch on it's breast which is largest on the biggest males.  The bird can be found on arable land and meadows across most of England and parts of Scotland.

Length: 29-31cm (11½-12in)

Wingspan: 45-48cm (18-19in)

Weight: 350-450g (13-16oz)

Average Life: 5 years
