DUNLIN

The Dunlin is a small Starling sized wader found in most parts of the UK from August to May.  During summer the adult has a black belly, a finely streaked breast and its upper parts are brown, blackish and cream.  During the winter the Dunlin is mouse brown on top and white beneath.  The bill tapers to a downward curved tip and they can be found at all kinds of watersides such as estuaries and muddy reservoir edges.  There are an estimated 360,000 that migrate to the UK.

Weight: 40-50g (1½-1¾oz)               

Lifespan: Up to 10 years
