CHAFFINCH
The Common Chaffinch is a common and widespread bird and as the name suggests is a member of the Finch family. There are currently between 5 and 6 million pairs resident and breeding in the UK and will often be seen feeding in woodlands, farmlands and gardens. The male has a blue / grey cap and rusty red breast and face, while the female is a pale brown & olive colour. There are 4 other species of Chaffinch not found in the UK: La Palma, Madeiran, Gran Canaria Blue and Tenerife Blue.
