The Blackbird is a species of thrush.  The male is all black apart from an orange eye-ring and bill with the female and juvenile having mainly dark brown plumage.  The Blackbird is a very common bird found right across the UK, found in woods, fields, parks, hedges, gardens and thickets with an estimated four to six million pairs breeding across the country.
